Palma de Mallorca has plenty of historic monuments, works of art that history has left the in city, from the Palace of Almudaina to the Cathedral, as well as churches, castles and monasteries.
If we follow a chronological order, a tour of the monuments of Palma Mallorca we start it by the Arab Baths and the Almudaina Palace, from the Muslim era, wich was the residence of monarchs, located in the heart of Palma de Mallorca, beside the Cathedral.
Then we highlight the Bellver Castle, ordered to build by Jaume II, son of the Conqueror. In its time the castle was one of the most impressive and invincible buildings in the Mediterranean Sea.
Besides these historical monuments and artworks, we should mention the churches that have been built throughout the years and La Lonja building, formerly a very important business center in Palma among merchants and seamen.
The Cathedral, the Almudaina Palace, the Arab Baths, the City Hall, the building of La Lonja and the Consulate de Mar are in the old town, so you can visit them in a day going on foot from one to another. Portopi lighthouse is located next to the port and Bellver Castle is in the upper part of the city, in the Forest of Bellver. There are frequent buses to visit both of them.
