Mercat Olivar is where you go if you want to meet the real people of Palma.
This local market is a feast for the eyes; with colourful displays of every kind of flowers and fruit; huge buckets full of olives and some extraordinary looking fish. Mercat Olivar is one of the best places in Palma to buy ham and cheese.
The upstairs meet counters can be a bit “graphic”, so if you’re in any way squeamish…best to be avoided.
This is great place to stop for tortilla at one of the tapas stalls, where you’ll see the local workers drinking brandy with their breakfast coffee.
