Manacor is home to Mallorca’s famous “artificial” pearls. They’ve been manufactured here since 1890. The best place to buy them is the factory on the outskirts of town.
Although artificial, these pearls look very like (and last longer than) the real thing so they can often be quite expensive.
You can take a guided tour of the manufacturing plant (and process) before you decide if you want to buy or not.
In Manacor town itself, there isn’t really a lot to see except for the Esglesia dels Delors de Nostra Senyora church that was built on the site of the former mosque. If you come here, try Manacor’s local speciality (Sobrasada - a spicy sausage) is absolutely delicious!
